Default Intermittent Charging with "Overdrive" Alt Pulley???

I just put on the March fluid underdrive pulley and it came with a "overdrive" alternator pulley. (its about half the size of stock so I assume its an Overdrive)
I am having intermittent charging issues now. The last few times I started the car it would idle on battery till it found the idle. It is taking an average of 35-45 secs to start charging. I had an ASP pulley before with the stock alt pulley and never had an issue.
Has anyone ever had this happen before???

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Andy

Wonder if the belt is slipping on the new alt pulley due to less contact area.

I thought about that. maybe I could paint a line on it to see if it is spinning. The tensioner is right inbetween both stops so its good and tight. I just hate to go buy another belt with the hit or miss length crap.

Sounds like your alternator is about to crap. Use a multimeter and check the voltage while your car is running. Unless.....are you sure you torqued your pulley on all the way? That would explain it.

Is it possible to over spin the alternator and kill it? I am going to put the stock alt pulley on tonight and see if that fixes the problem. Maybe the alt pulley is so small that I need a shorter belt to tighten it up some.

I just had a stupid thought. Your alternator pulley could have come loose and be spinning freely.
