Question Free ram air and sealing the airbox?

I know this is probably one of those "no real answer" type questions but I gotta give it a shot anyway.
I've had the free ram air (FRA) mod for 3 years now (along with a lid/K&N of course) and have had great results with it IMO. I don't have the airbox sealed off like the FTRA and SLP cold air kits usually do/usually recommend but I am considering it.
Has anyone done this and would you recommend it?

Again I'm talking about the FRA set up only, not the other ones.

yeah, more air is good...but not if it's not pressurized by a sealed up path. i would think sealing it up so u have just one tight path of air would be better. the reason u do the fra is to make that ONE path bigger and more free flowing...but definitely seal the front of the lid!! i promise u will get all the air u need....except of course going with the ftra...which is a damn good little design for the price

Question

Even if you seal the front of the lid/box the forced air coming up from underneath can still find it's way out a little bit from the little open areas around the airbox probably...I mean it's not completely sealed so it won't be totally pressurized but I guess it has to be better than if the front slot were still open.

I just did the WS6 baffle removal and sealed the airbox. One week before the mod my average trap over 5 runs was 124.14, the next week after the mod over 3 runs it was 125.55, a 1.41 mph gain. I was so happy witht the results I just did the throttle body coolant by-pass mod. I never bothered with the little mods because I didn't think they would do much but the ram air mod sure did.

You can seal the airbox by going to Home Depot / Lowe's and buying some Air Conditioning ductwork tape - not regular duct tape, but the shiny metal stuff. It works. It contours reasonably easily, is inexpensive (so you can throw it away when you need to pull the airbox), and it does seal the airbox...
