Headers slowed my car down .3+ tenths, White plugs?
Has anyone had this problem? See mods, i have no backpressure and i think i can see that up to like 60. If i punch it a 60+ i think i can tell a sotp difference. I checked my spark plugs and they are white on the ends. That means lean right? Also my check oil light come on and my oil was just changed not too long ago. does this mean i am dumping all kinds of fuel that not getting burnt?

Tiger, if you just installed your headers you may have knocked off a connecter somewhere???But headers and a good ex. will lean out your engine, yes white plugs indicate a lean mixture. This could cause a loss in power.I"ve bought 2 sets of 242 heads in the last 6 monthes, first set with 3000 miles from 2002 TA ,second set from2004 CORVETTE with 2000 miles and one thing I noticed was a very rich or DARK colored ex. port ,leading me to believe that the ls1 likes a rich fuel mixture, you may need tuning I'm not sure, maybe someone else will respond,BTW your not dumping extra fuel in your oil.The fuel is sprayed into the intake port and would go directly into the cylinder itself. From what you"ve stated I would say your headers are working good.

Thanks for the help. Has anyone actually gotten slower after headers? I expected to be running the same as i was before at least.
What are the stock plugs gapped at? I gapped my ngks at .50 but had to replace the passenger side plugs for my stock plugs. so now i have half stock half ngk untill i get some more tomorrow. one had a slight crack in it.
Here is a pic of my old spark plugs w/ 20,000 miles and new ones with like 10 miles. Should they already be this white?
Everything will probably be ok after a tune but im paranoid w/ something being wrong .
Is there anything anyone can tell me by looking at the plugs?

That makes me feel better that someone else run slower w/o a tune. My bottown end feels aweful but im basically running open headers consdering the lm doesnt do much. my 0-60 is now 5.3-4 when is use to be 4.9.
I have listened for leaks but havent heard any. is there a sure way to find them?

I noticed the same thing about my plugs, but all I changed were the plugs. My stock Denso plugs were tan, but I put in the TR55's like you did and they are bright white. I'm guessing that the TR55's are too hot for our cars.

Or are you simply using a G-tech and not the track?
Also are the weather/air conditions the exact same as when you ran quicker before? If you ran in -800 DA before and now in the summer ran in +2000 DA that will affect your results obviously.

i ran using a g-tech and it showed an increase with all my other mods. it might not be accurate w/ the track put it is consistent. I ran my times just before installing the headers and after. It wasnt a lucky run it was a consistent run and i tried doing better than 13.5 several times after the headers but cant.
oh, well going to get a tune next weeks maybe things will b ok

you are running lean, your tune obviously changed with the headers. get it tuned or get a maft and do it yourself. you will find the lost power. you may have a leak I guess...but more than likely you are just pinging and pulling a ton of timing.

You cant just look at the spark plugs after normal driving. The PCM is always going for a set mixture at cruise, which cannot be changed. To accurately read the plugs, you need to do several WOT passes, shut the motor off immediately and then read them...And accurately reading them is difficult at best. Also, 10 miles isnt enough driving time to let the PCM adjust the LTFTs. Put 50+ on it then report back. Most people report a rich condition with headers BTW.
