Default is this resonation?

I just recently had Kooks LTs installed with a ORY.... its all running on a open cutout.... with a sotck muffler. With the cutout open around 2K the exhaust tone makes like high pictched banging sound... but only at 2k and any higher it stops or just gets quieter... why does it do that... and can that be stopped?

Resonation is the dull humming or droning sound when your car hits certain rpms.....

the banging sound could be your exhaust hitting some part of the car ?????

no i dont think so cause its doesnt make a metallic sound... it kinda sounds like a Mustang GT with a X pipe..around 2k it makes drastic change in noise it gets very loud. it only happens at 2k anyting after that is fine and sounds good.

if i hard accelerate it doest do it near as bad just on a slow take take say from a redlight.

Resonation is the amplification of a tone by additional vibration. You exhaust will vibrate differently at varying speeds and make different sounds. It's very typical to get a low rpm drone from an exhaust, but I'm not sure what your hearing with a banging sound? I would check to see if there was any contact with your ORY and k-member.

That's why you nail it off the light so the cop never gets a chance to pull you over!!

There's where your monster noise is coming from. I could have never daily driven mine with it open when I had a cutout

Mine does the same thing. When you get no cats on a limited muffler set-up the exhaust builds up and explodes for some reason. Kinda cool though, when driving around slowly and your exhaust explodes like that barely moving a lot of people are like DAMN, and they think I got some really huge set-up or something.
