Default magnaflow sound

Installed my magnaflow catback a week ago today and while still getting use to the new sound I am not sure what to think. I have pacesetter LT and ORY with the magnaflow catback and sounds good and all but when you really get on it from a dead stop or floor it, it almost sounds like an old chevy pickup with straight pipes...LOL.....more of a high pitched sound than a deep tone I was expecting. Anybody else notice this with their setup?

I never have liked the sound of Magnaflow. It just seems like a glorified glasspack sound compared to other catbacks out there. Pretty much when you take the cats off a Y pipe LS1 setup the sound quality goes south. I love the sound my car makes with the catted Y but I am leaving 10+ rwhp on the table by running them. It's a love hate relationship.

I'm a big fan of the sound. I'm just running the cat-back, with stock manifolds. I'm installing long tubes and a catted Y in a few weeks.

Sounds great with cats, but like most y-pipe setups with no cats, it really starts to rasp. The sound just isn't the same. Slap some cats on there or go dual. Could try the Hooker cat-back, too. I hear it doesn't rasp as much without cats as some others.

I have Jet Hot LT's, no cats, and the magnaflow exhaust. One thing I noticed is the sound changed over time, also due to me having many of the joints welded up. I think tightening (welding) up the exhaust, and puting the spring between the y-pipe and drivers side floorboard really changed the exhaust note. I get compliments all the time. Not much rasp at all. (shrug)

I forgot to add, last week a friend and I compared our exhausts side by side and they were very similar. He has true duels dumped with some sort of bullet or muffler. His was a little bit deeper but that's probably because it was dumped under the car.
