Default amw catch can?

Is this mod simply to extend the life of your engine? or does it have performance gains? and will a homemade setup be less effective or is the extra 60 bucks just for looks? Been around these forums for a while and just looked at this mod for the first time today.

Its a great mod to do. Whether you spend $90 to buy the AMW unit or $20 to make your own.

It keeps oil out of your intake ( gets pretty gunked up after a while), which in the long run keeps the oil from contaminating the fuel in your combustion chamber. Oil lowers the octane level of the fuel leading to detonation. The detonation in the long term damages your pistons leading rebuilds.

So a catch can is actually a pretty nice little thing to have. The AMW unit is awesome by the way. Well worth the cash..

Someone else chime in.. Also do a search.. there have been alot of discussions on this.
