I think it is illegal. but it depends on your local PD. I live in GA and havent been ticketed yet. I think you are cool as long as you go past the rear end which I dont have but I still, like I said above, havnet been ticketed. o well good luck with it

Most states your exhaust has to exit past the passenger compartment to help ensure that fumes do not build up inside the car.

Exhaust dumps are illegal for usage on public roadways.. " OFF-ROAD USE ONLY"

But as long as you aren't being a schmo and drawing attention to yourself, you should get by just fine.

You're in the state with the shop that pretty much revolutionized true duals on our cars.. LANES

I live in Texas, and have not had a problem with it. Most cops will not do anything about it because they dont know the laws that well. But, in passager cars, I believe its illegal. Where do you livein texas? Lubbock does not have the sniffer test, so they dont check for that.

I'm a vehicle inspector in Texas and know that it is illegal. The exhaust pipes should exit the passenger compartment, which on a car means that they have to exit out the rear or side. On pickups you can dump the pipes after they clear the cab; but if you have a camper they still have to exit the rear or the sides.

Ya, you will have the sniff test. I am almost sure that they just pasted that 2 years ago. I use to live in Kingwood area outside of houston. Lubbock does not have a sniffer test.

A few my freinds have gotten tickets/warnings for it. It is illegal in texas. I have been very lucky so far.

Technically, everything you do to your car is in some way illegal.

i was questioning this myself after reading some threads i recently had a new exhaust custom bent for my truck and i asked them if it can be dumped and they said yeah. So its legal with a truck in the state of texas as long as its behind the cab? i sure hope so so i can pass inspection.

Its legal here in Texas to dump in back of the cab as long as you don't have a camper back there.

Mines dumped and I pray that a hwy patrol is never behind me. I live right at 290 and 1960 and the state troopers will pull you over for exhaust and exhaust only.
