Yep, Hooker sounds best with no cats and LT's.

I know magnaflow is stainless steal is hooker. I liver where there is snow and it might get driven in it every once in a while if i have too. should this affect my decision.

Definitely should affect your decision. You'll have to replace the whole catback if it gets too rusty. Magnaflow is quieter than Hooker, but won't rust. I'd go Magnaflow with no regrets. It flows ridiculous.

I have the Magnaflow on a stock car and I love it. i bought it for the same reasons you described above; possible (for me constant) winter driving. After a year, I have no rust and the whole thing is still shiney. I have no idea how it will sound with LTs and guted Cats. I'd look in the Exhaust Sticky jrp made...see if anyone has the setup you want. Good luck.

magnaflow, love the sound when you get on it. My friend swears it sounds like a mustang, and he's a ford guy.

Magnaflow sounds great with lt's and ory, but so does Hooker. I would go with Magnaflow for the reason it will weather better, but both sound and flow great. That's why I went with it.

MHO Go with the Hooker catback. It's not stainless but will last a long time. You'll probably replace it with something else before it rusts to the point it needs replacing. Hooker sounds very good with @ without Cats, ie not too raspy and high pitched. IMO Magnaflow sounds very good with cats but once you take them off it sounds to me like a glasspack equipped old chevy truck. I would try and listen to them both in person and at LS1 sounds.com before buying.

I have the magnaflow with lts/ory and a big cam. I like it most of the time. There's a range where it gets kinda raspy around 2200-2700 or so. Other than that it sounds awesome. The sound at cruise is nice and deep and wot sounds awesome! Idle was pretty quiet until the cam, and then it got a lot louder.

It's a tough call. Both are VERY good flowing/sounding catbacks. I've ran the Hooker for over 3 yrs, and i just installed a Magnaflow on my rommates car.

On a stock car, the Magna is going to be louder. When you go LT's/ORP, the Hooker is going to sound better.

All in preference..

Why do I want it to sound like a Ford?

Even the most hardened GM guy has to admit that Mustangs sound great.

Default More Header Options

Hi guys,

We at Edelbrock have two new sets of F-car headers becoming available and will be shown for the first time at SEMA in two weeks. You may want to hold off on your header purchase, as these will offer all of the qualities of the existing Victor Race headers #6570, including 1-3/4" primary tubes stepped to 1-7/8", a 3-1/2" outlet, and mandrel bends. However, the "New" designs will be completely assembled and include O2 and AIR and will be available for both the 98-99 and 00-02 models. (The existing are a true race header with an adjustable, bolt-on collector).

Two very important qualities to note is the addition of a ceramic coating option and our new Ti-Tech coating, which offers you a lower cost alternative to traditional ceramic coat and will not burn off like a traditional black paint. This is going to be a great option. One last note, the #6571 Y-pipe will complete the installation and these are available through your LS1Tech Edelbrock distributors. I can send an image over tomorrow when I am in the office, as long as it is kept low key until SEMA!

Thanks,
Jason.

How about an x pipe at the end of the headers?
