Default MTI & TSP Clear lids??????

has anyone had a problem with the clear lids fading or developing a nasty film on them?? i have been thinking of getting one but i want it to have a nice look for a long time and not to fade.

thanks,

I've had mine MTI clear lid for about 6 months and even wiping it down with a micro fiber cloth it still still swirls like crazy and is easy to scratch. It's only noticable in the sun but it's still their. It hasn't "yellowed" or fogged at all and it isn't showing any signs of that either. However, I've come to the conclusion that if you do alot of work under the hood it's really not worth having one. Every time I work under the hood I take the lid off or cover it so it doesn't get a nicks or scrapes and one of the tabs is starting to crack since it's been in and out of the car so many times. They still look pretty neat though, and people always check it out.

You run a k&n, holley, etc.. type filter?

If so, it's probably oil from the filter element.

My TSP still looks good after a year. Plastic polish can make it shine back up and cleans it pretty good, but good luck finding that stuff since most auto parts store discontinued it.

I have a smoked/clear lid from TSP, wash it out with Spray-away glass cleaner to clean it and zaino to polish it. Looks as nice as the day I bought it two years ago and never have had an issue with it.
