Default LSX 78mm = how much power?

I am wondering how much power will be gained by installing an LSX 78mm intake + Tbody in place of the stock '01 LS1 manifold? The car will have Stage 2 heads, 224 cam, LT headers, etc. Can I gain 15rwhp or is that dreaming?

I think the LSX 90mm is too big for this application.

01's have the ls6 intake manifold, so it wouldnt be as much gain as over a 00 or so, but since theres some engine work(heads/cam) you'll can probly see 15 rwhp, i've seen it done, look in the dyno area of the forums, they have lots of numbers that showed up from just lsx intake manifold.

You could potentially see up to 15rwhp from a 78mm+TB upgrade with tuning...and the 90mm set up might not be too big for your combo, possibly.

If you're gonna spend that much money on an intake setup, I'd just go with the 90mm. people with your cam, some have gained little to nothing with a 78mm and jump 15hp when they put on a 90. if you think you may go with a bigger cam in the future, or NOS, DEFINITELY go 90mm.

When in doubt do what I do. Wait for the magical BBK intake to come out and see if it does what they say.

Having a 90mm throttle body & intake won't hurt performance like it could with a carb. You don't need to have velocity through the throttle body cause the air is slowed down in the plenum anyway. It could be overkill and overpriced, but it won't hurt performance.

What are the complaints anyways? I have had a BBK throttle body before, and it was really nice. Very good quality.

Surging, bucking, sticking, high idle, low idle, dull finish with swirl marks, no power gains, they hiss, coolant leaks because one factory hose is too big for it just to name a few And the customer service isn't the best...
