Hardest job on an LS1
Just want to know if anyone had any real PITA jobs that needed to be done on the LS1? I think I might have had the most difficult... (maybe even a first)
Went to install the "timing tuner" crank sensor plug but the starter is in the way. To get the starter off, I would have needed to remove my Kooks headers and cats. I could just reach the plug with a 14" screwdriver from under the car. So I unplugged the PITA GM socket, plugged it into the timing tuner and then put the timing tuner plug back into the crank sensor (all this using two very long screwdrivers!). Sort of reminded me of those keyhole surgery operations...

I was gonna say changing the damn spark plugs and wires. I still have scars from the first time I did that. I swear the purposely put jagged pieces of metal all over the engine bay just to cut up un-experianced mechanics.

Cant say I know about those red bulbs, and changing the plugs can tear your hands up a bit (although I make sure I have my Mechanix gloves on) ...but when it takes 3hours and as many beers to unplug/plug in something, now that is one evil GM engineer...

Poly motor mounts with the engine in, and headers. Ugh.
Installing headers in the first place. I think it's because I was much more inexperienced back then, and I crossthreaded a bolt in the head, had to bang my floorpan in about 3 places, cut heatshields, etc.
Clutch/tranny swap on my C5 was easier.
