Default Question about stock Y-pipe on 99'

I have the flattened out y-pipe on my T/A Does anyone think there is anything to be gained if I cut out that section and welded in a non flattened exhaust pipe in that section. Just throwing this Idea out there. Me and a buddy are thinking of giving it a try. I think it would be similar to the SLP y-pipe.

You could buy a cheap replacement for that, sounds cool, but you will not gain that much out of that. You still have the stock manifolds.

If you have nothing else to do with your time try it but like Z-286speed said you won't be able to tell a difference. If you want to feel some real power get those stock manifolds out and put some headers in.

Stock flat pipe flows the same as the round one IMO, don't waste you time. Save a few pennies for a Header/y-pipe combo.

If the flat pipe flows the same as the round pipe why do they offer a y-pipe like the slp one? I just can't believe that a flatten out y-pipe flows the same as a mandrel bent one.

LOL. that's an easy one $$$$

The pipe is flat, not pinched. Same open area, just a different shape.

exactly. SLP knows people think it restricts flow, so they offer a replacement Ypipe without. So they make more money off people who dont know any better.

Like John said, the pipe is the same total area, its just oval isntead of round.
