Arrow New sound same car!

I got bored one day and drew up what i wanted as far as exhaust when i get my car out and this is what i came up with. I want to keep my mac headers then run 3 inch pipe off the headers to a 4 inch X pipe then out into 2 flomaster 1 chamber out into dumps pointed to the ground but kinda out toward the door.

What do you'll think as far as sound wise cause you can listen to what it sounds like on ls1sounds but i just dont know exactly what it will sound like in person im just so excited to hear it. And by the way does anyone have a pic or pics of some simular examples of what i want to do?

Thanx

Josh

4" X-pipe? Are you sure? 4" single pipe is more than adequate for stock displacement LS1 and dual 4" is overkill. If you're doing an X-pipe, don't go any larger than 3" or you will lose lots of very usable low end torque. Good luck.

A 2.5" system will be best for your Macs, since they have 2.5" collectors. And 2.5" duals should be good to 450 rwhp, at the least.

On my stock internal car, my 2.5" system, with Dr Gas X - made more power than Pacesetters with a 3" system - and Hookers, with a 3" system. Was faster at the track too. Plus, it was a quieter, smoother sounding and riding car.

Dual 4" won't fit anyway(with any kind of clearance) - and the only reason to do that is if your headers had 4" collectors - which is WAY overkill, like bull said. I've built many 3.5" systems and they barely fit with decent ground/floor-board clearance.

I assumed he ment the cross section of the X would be 4". They are typically 4-4.5" depending on the inlets/outlet of the X

yes i did mean in the middle of where the 2 pipes meet, and i think i would rather go with a 3 inch pipe all the way back, but then again i dont know cause wouldnt a 2.5 be to small? I dont know im just asking.

I've got Jet Hots with flowmaster single chambers with 2.5" pipe and it is plenty for a stock displacement ls1. Don't go too big or you will kill your torque as others have said. Plus, your clearance will suck with 4". Here are some pics of my setup. It flows plenty in my opinion.

That's a good looking setup. Can't say I've ever seen cutouts on a true dual system that's dumped before the rear.

thats exactly what i want as far as exhaust, except the cutouts. I like that i just wished some one had a sound clip of that setup at full throttle cause ls1sounds doesnt.

Every dyno comparison I've seen with similar set-ups - the cut-outs cost quite a bit of torque and some hp as well. You're bypassing the best part of the exhaust when you take out the X... Not knocking your system at all, it's looks good. Just passing on what I've seen.

LS1 sounds: The vid of mine is already on there, but my friends car isn't. I don't think he'll mind one bit.
