I've got SLP LT's and the Dual LM setup.... would i gain any HP if i switched to true duals or cutouts?

Thanx

On my stock internaled, bolt-on car, I went from a Kooks catted-y and Hooker to a custom, over the axle true dual setup, 3" into the X and 2.5" over the axle through Magnaflow bullets and out the rear (no cats, obviously). I went from 333/348 with a 13.1 A/F ratio before to 340/356 with a 12.5 A/F ratio after, with gains in the midrange of around 10-11 RWTQ in places.

im sure if you got all 3" duals, dumped at the axle, and the a/f a a little more lean than meentss02, you would gain more hp than that over the y-pipe.

plus you would weigh less, as well as get rid of that rasp i'm sure you have with the loudmouth

I think that the money could be better spent elsewhere...

I am saying that you should keep what you have unless you just want a change in eshaust note. If you want more power from the exhaust get a $35 cut-out. But thats just my opinion.

dual cutouts on the Y even better than true duals unless you want a different exhaust tone...then just change it...may notbe worth all that much however

I agree. True duals sound awesome (in most but not all cases at least) but do they really make that much power over a good Y pipe with cut out set up?
And the issues of getting them to fit right without banging/rattling, keeping them from scraping the ground/driveways/speedbumps and the harrassment from the law just make them a total hassle to live with IMO.

If you spend the $$$, you won't have the problems you listed. Personally, I'm very glad I went with duals over my old setup. Then again, my wallet is telling me I'd damn well better like it.

so have we decided that dual cut-outs would be more HP efficient?

From all my research, the major performance advantage duals give is the increase in TQ throughout the power band. A cut-out open Y-pipe set up will make almost as much hp/tq in the upper parts of the power curve, which is basically all you need for drag racing, since you are in the high-revs a majority of the time. Duals provide everyday driveable TQ levels and ample HP up top. I have dumped duals and will be going back to a y-pipe/cut-out setup for clearance reasons and to quiet the car down (and by quiet I mean to prevent it from rattling).
