Default Exhaust Dilemma

I installed a Magnaflow cat-back a while back, and it sounds great but i wanna install some headers and stuff. I have heard the rasp is obnoxious and was thinking of selling the cat-back and going to a true duals setup. My car is a '00 SS that is stock, and was wondering if I install a duals setup with X-pipe and bullets/sweet thunders, will it sound good on stock manifolds and cats? Also, I want it to be loud, but I also drive it everyday and dont want obnoxious, so any advice will help. I dont have alot of extra cash to spend so I'm either sticking with the magnaflow or going with duals and eventually headers. I need some feedback on them and what you all think I should do.

It should not be raspy if you keeps some cats on there and the y-pipe has a nice merge.

Or would I be better off installing a hotcam and a cutout/headers cutout?
