Default LSX/TPIS 90mm TB - worth it behind stock MAF ?

Did search, didn't find good answer.

Obviously the MAF is a restriction, but what do you guys think about the LSX/TPIS 90mm TB replacing my Holley intake and Jantzer TB ?

222/224 .571"/.571" 114 LSA Cam Motion cam, Stage 2 5.3L heads milled .030. Makes 410rwhp/415rwtq N/A on a DynoJet. (No dyno #'s on the hose yet).

Guesses at gains and will it be worth it to spend the $$ ?

I'm leery of changing MAFs - anyone have good things to say about the 85mm GMAF or SLP MAF ?

I know bigger N2O and fuel pills are much cheaper.

(Seriously, need opinions/info on the intake/tb).

Thanks !

I know some people running the SLP 85mm maf with the 90/90 combo and say it works great (tunable). However, if you pull the screen out of your stock maf, there wont be THAT much of a difference. I believe Jason told me it was worth 2 rwhp on his car.

At the RWHP level where a 90mm intake and TB is necessary, $150 for 3 rwhp is a good deal IMO.

I have the slp 85mm MAF and am very happy with it. I am going to be changing my set up this spring. Putting TEA heads and Futral 114 with LSX 90mm Intake and T.B. so we'll see how everything works together. But you can see my current mods and the slp 85mm MAF is good imo.

I'd go with a 85 GM maf as I;ve heard the SLP is junk...
Also I think my sig shows the 90/LSX and stock maf work just fine

I use the slp 85 MM maf and it is working out pretty good, I actually took it off one day and swapped it out with my stock descreened MAF just to see if I saw a difference in a/f and I did not. Even with this said I would still re dyno tune it with the 85 MM maf and 90 MM TB just to be safe.

Yeah I think people are confusing the effect of the SLP 85mm MAF with the ported ends. The ends lean your car out because they are allowing unmetered air to pass through. The 85mm MAF was designed larger, therefore all the air passing through is measured and your A/F ratio should technically stay the same (of course there could be variances while the computer is adjusting). It can really only help, since it'll simply flow more air when your motor asks for it.

A few guys reported terrible results with the SLP,I'd buy the GM one but I'm just sitting back until they offer a 90 MAF/90 lid combo and then I switch...
