Default Need Help, Exhaust Size for QTP

Hey everyone, I'm a former import driver gone domestic, and alot of this new lingo is confusing.

My 02 Z28 M6 has borla catback, and I want to purchase QTP headers. Thinking I was getting somewhere by finally selecting the brand, I see they offer 2 sizes, 1 3/4" and 1 7/8". What the heck?

and what the heck is a high velocity collector? omg..

1 3/4" 2001-2002 with Air Fittings $799.99
1 3/4 1998-2002 High Velocity Collector $1249.99
1 7/8 1998-2002 High Velocity Collector $1349.99

get the 1 3/4 with air fittings. 1 3/4 is the primary size.not worth the extra hundred for the high velocity collector. only going to gain you a few hp. 1 7/8s is for a car that is going to be making huge power so unless your planning on huge power the 1 3/4 should be fine.

on oldschool sb chevys the norm was 1 5/8" primaries with 1 3/4" if you are making good power.

the newer motors lt1/ls1 flow much better than the old ones and it seems the norm is now 1 3/4 on these with 1 7/8 being for highpower/strokers.

the h/v merge collector option is 400 bucks. Unless you have money to blow go with the normal collector. the QTP y pipe is one of the best on the market as well.

~1300 for the standard collector with Y pipe
~1800 for the merge collector and Y pipe

Thanks. Damn, 1300$ is real expensive, time to do some searches on cheaper alternatives, unless anyone has a recommendation to make here

if you arent going to go with a big stroker motor just get the regular 1 3/4 headers.... QTP are IMO the best headers out there... i had another set from some other company and they rusted out..

i run the High velocity merge collector headers.. its for squeezing a few more horses out

Be aware, that for the qtp y-pipe you will either need an exhaust shop to do it, or access to a lift. I don't recommend trying to do it in your garage .

If the high velocity merge collector versions are a bit outside of your budget then get the base versions (1 3/4"), I also agree that these are THE BEST LS1/LS6 header available.

QTP is one of the best headers out there for quality and fitment. However if your looking for a cheeper alternative there are many choices out there. Pacesetter is the cheepest, Jet Hot and Hooker are good choices also. These headers are all ceramic coated which won't last as long as stainless, but most brands have figued out there fitment issues. Check the sponsors for prices and keep an eye on the GP section for deals, I'm looking for a QTP GP in the May timeframe myself!!
