Default spark plug replacement

Well i bought my car with 27k on it, it now has 31k and i doubt that the plugs have been changed yet. Now I do not believe this 100,000 mile BS with the platinum plugs, so do my plugs need to be changed? If so what is the best plug to use, I've heard a lot of good things about the NGK's. And finally, how much of a pain in the *** is it to change the plugs on these things. From the looks of it the job seems like a real knuckle buster, espically on the rear 2 cylinders.

Those stock platinum plugs are trash. I just bought my '98 Z28 last month, I pulled the stock plugs that had only 11K miles on them and already half of the platinum discs had blown off.

Swap over to some NGK TR55s and set the gap at .055. #6 & #8 are kinda rough to get at, but once you get that coil rail removed it helps a lot. I had a hell of a time with my '98 because we don't have rails to pull (coils go directly on the valvecover). My '00 was much easier to do....

It's not bad at all, especially if you have done them on an LT1 car-lol.
http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm
go to the "install documents" section and scroll down under "engine" you'll find plugs & wires.

Driver's side is a cakewalk, shouldn't take more than 20 mins. On the passenger side the only thing I did different from the above instructions is completely remove the coil pack rail from the car. With that and the AIR tube out of the way it was really an easy job.

good luck
