SLP vs QTP headers
im sure this has been posted 4000000000 times, but I have my SLP's off since i have to do some bottom end work(cam bearings). I liked the SLP's, but man there are a PITA and then some to put on and off the car. I would like to sell and get some QTP's maybe. But moneys tight so i dunno what I will do yet.
Does anyone have any soild HP gains or ET gains over the SLP's with QTP's?
those that may have had SLP's, were the QTP's alot easier to install? We had living hell getting these things outta the car. If I can find a good deal on QTP's and not loose to much from the switch i may.
just wanted to know any pros over the SLP's the QTP's gave ya.
again, i like the SLP's, but damn damn damn... my hands are still cussing me

No direct dyno comparisons that I know of but headers of a similar design to the QTPs have shown a full 15hp increase over the Spaghetti long tu....err I mean SLP long tubes. My car made some seriously sick power with the QTPs.
IMO there are NO pros to going with the SLPs over the QTPs unless one is just hell bent on having a mediocre coating over an inferior grade of stainless steel (409 versus the QTPs superior 304). QTPs are an absolute BREEZE to install too.
SLPs are:
horrible to install
hang too low and scrape even on stock ride height cars
make far less power than QTPs on average
are made of a lower grade of stainless steel
Get the QTPs www.quicktimeperformance.com

azpowerandsound here in arizona did a direct comparison on these two headers. The SLP's made more low end Tq, but the QTPs made more power under the curve.
Not to mention the fact that the quality of QTP is better and they dont hang low. Im sorry i dont have the dyno graph but if you pm SSonYourSix im sure he will provide you with it.

SLPs =hang way too low, are known to make less power than just about any other header out there... many here will agree with me on this 100%
QTPs = stainless steel, make great power and have a bunch options like HVM collectors, true merge Y pipe, QTECs and so on..

titus, i may wait and look at your's at the shootout.. Im gonna get a PA k member so installing the SLP's will be easier atleast. I would like to see some company not partial to either header do a dyno so we could all see whats best. I'd hate to sell the SLP's and loose 500bucks roughly by going to QTP's if that makes sense.
but if guys are really seeing 15 more hp? Then it could be worth it id you already have every mod known to man lol
thanks for the info everyone

i know alotta thing play a part in dyno numbers.. hell you could go to the dyno oneday and pull 400hp.. then 2 days later you are pulling 390 with nothing different done lol...
hawkn01 ran 11.2 SI with SLP's.. mine went a slow 11.5 with just cam so they much do pretty good power wise.
So far the guys that like SLP say they are the best headers out.. the guys that like QTP say they are the best out.. go figure
ive had the slp's for 4 years.. i just didnt know if someone had a dyno graph of a before and after with nothing different done and both cars tuned.. shop neutral to both also
thanks everyone

I had the SLPs and switched them out for grotts because they hung way too low. I saw a 6 hp gain from the switch on the dyno as a bolt on car. It never made an improvement at the track. In fact my best run as a bolt on car was w/ the SLPs (ET & mph). Ran a 12.62 at 113.
As a side note, I can't stand how SLP claims a 58 hp increase. To me it kills their credibility.

The QTP's kick the SLP headers in the junk, stand around and laugh at them, and then go off and bang the SLP's LT's wife. I would go as far as saying they are inferior compared to the QTP's. You wont regret the switch.

It's been said numerous times, but it stands to be repeated...the SLPs hang very very low...speedbumps were a nightmare, even if I went over them diagonally at a snails pace...now I have Kooks (same design as QTPs) and they offer maximum tuckage (is this a word? )

Man if I had mine off there would be no way I would put them back on, not because of power because they do make good power under the curve but they just hang too low and they are just to close to the elec. harness on the pass. side. Hell when I bought mine they were the only LT out there to choose from.
