Default Pacesetter vs QTP/Kooks

i've seen comparisons of kooks and slp's lt's...i'm wondering if anyone has tested the pacesetters...what kind of gains did you get from switching if any...thanks...a graph would be best

They're all going to make very similar power, since they're all very similar in design. The merge collectors on the Kook's and QTPs(I believe) will add a bit. The overall quality you can't compare though - with Pacesetters not even in the same class as Kooks and QTP. You get what you pay for there IMO.

Not knocking the Pacesetter header - GREAT bang for the buck.

you really cant compare those 2... power wise.. they might make similar gains... but it depends...

for instance QTP has a true merge collector in the Y pipe that will yield to more power.. and if you get the HVM race headers even more gains..

i would never get any other headers out there unless they are stainless .. i had coated headers before.. they rusted the coating peeled off and so on.. got QTPs now

here in the middle of florida though we don't have snow, salt, and all that other stuff to deteriorate the headers....or am i wrong? i'm trying to justify the cost somehow...because i'm not paying 900 for stainless when i can get coated for 400 that perform just as well...i'm sure you know what i'm saying...i mainly asked this question because there was like a 15hp increase from kooks over slp's and i was wondering if the same holds true for the pacesetters...more info please...thanks

The corrosion is from within on the LS1 motor. The high compression, etc., builds up a lot of moisture. I've had nearly a cup of water pour out of Y-pipes before when removing them.

I agree, it's gotta be stainless steel or nothing at all. Pacesetters come either uncoated (rust within weeks) or coated on the outside ONLY (rust inside and out within months in some cases) and there still may be some more power to be achieved by going with the far better engineered and built QTPs IMO.
I love my QTPs.

Yes you might just be wrong...I suppose Florida has zero humidity year round as well?

oh well i'm stubborn...i'll just learn the hardway...i don't have a lot of money right now because of all the mods i'm going to do at once....so if down the road they rust....i've spent 400$ on a year or two worth of hapiness...and i'll just buy the kooks then...or maybe something better will come out...i might even go to a 408 and then need to get some stepped headers...so i think pacesetters will work out best for me for the situation i'm in...

why not get the stepped Kook's know and be done with it. And get the stainless BTW it's not like the stepped headers will hurt you 346 motor. Why spend twice when you can do it right the first time

because i don't have enough money to do it right the first time...400$ isn't that much...so i'm willing to try them out to see how they hold up....my friend has some hooker's on his lt1 and they look new after well over a year...they were on there when he got the car....and he has had it for well over a year now...oh well...i'd rather spend the other 500 bucks on an f13 cam
