ls6 intake
What kind of gains could I expect from an ls6 intake? Is it worth it? What is egr and air? I hear people talking about deleting them and stuff, but don't have the slightest clue. sorry

EGR- exhaust gas recirculation, you might have noticed a tube that goes into your airbox on the drivers side, that's it. It is used for emissions, you're burning some of the gases again so emissions go down.
AIR- has something to do with the catalytic converters and making them more effective when you start the engine

i gained 1rwhp from the ls6 intake before tuning, after tuning i gained 10rwhp from it. If your not planning on re-tuning the car after installation, in my opinion i wouldn't bother. You get big numbers from it when you add heads/cam. If you have emissions in your inspection then dont delete the egr/air systems, its only engine bay dress up really. No hp gain, a few pounds saved.

i think its a worth while investment, but watch out, because I have a feeling that on a stock tune it might mess with the a/f a bit, thats just a guess though. Either way its definetly worth the money. LS6 intakes can be had for pretty cheap.

To expound a bit on the AIR and EGR, here you go:
EGR - Removing this will make you technically illegal, but if you remove the code from the computer and live in a state that only uses the OBDII test (which is most states), then you shouldn't have to worry about it. This will (according to my research) give you small HP gains, and, more importantly, it will clean up your engine a bit. Running exhaust through your intake will dirty things up a bit.
AIR - This stands for something wierd like Air Injector Reaction or something like that. It's just an air pump that heats up the cats when the car is cold. It doesn't really cost you any HP, it doesn't weigh much, and it's generally not worth the effort to remove.
