AIR system removal and pcm?
Is there anyway to keep the ses light from coming on after removing the AIR system besides getting a pcm tune or using an editing program such as ls1-edit?

Nope there is not because your pcm is reading the electrical connection to the AIR pump (or lack thereof). You will throw a P0410 code which is your secondary air injection system.

I thought the code was triggered by the o2 low voltage?(not enough air at start up).
I removed my A.I.R piping and check valves.I cut a couple short pieces of hose, suction and discharge from a.i.r pump, pump still comes on when it's suppost to,and goes off after 4 minutes.I pointed the hoses toward the ground at the front of the car.Still got the code.So the code can't be coming from the pump relay. The only other electrical in the system,is the electric switching valve behind the motor.I left this plugged in as well.
So only thing left,is not heating up the convertor fast enough, giving the o2 low voltage and triggereing "secondary air code",meaning the cats are not "lit-off".If this is not true, please explain.
I cleared my check engine light after my first o410 code, now when i start the car cold,i push the throttle a little to raise the rpms and push more air to the o2s/cats faster. So far it's been 2 weeks and the code has not come back.Still not sure on this system, will delete the codes pretty soon.

Just removed mine
I just removed my AIR system, but haven't plugged the vacuum line going into the round hose junction yet. I will do that next and dump the round thingy.
Like H-5-L did, I left the AIR pump in place as well as the solenoid. No codes yet (fingers crossed). I do have O2 simulators though. Maybe that makes a difference.
Also, that damn AIR pump is loud as sheeaht without an outlet hose. It sounds like a damn hair dryer. Does anyone make an AIR pump sim?

What I'm wondering, is how the computer reads the "actual" a/f ratio when the smog pump is pumping in fresh, unburnt air. I mean, does the computer adjust the front o2 readings when the air pump is on to get to the 14.7 a/f ratio. If thats the case, will disabling the ses light allow the pcm to see the pump is off thus not correcting the fresh air factor. Just wondering.
