Default stock exhaust manifolds

Ive got a 00Z28 M6, lid and FRA only at this point. I have heard that 01-02 exhaust manifolds flow better than 00 manifolds. Is this ture? I have access to some really cheap 02 manifolds and if they will give me 4-5 hp then I can see it being worth while. I dont have the extra funds for headers at this time, so every little bit helps. Thanks

I'd say it's probably not worth the time, energy, and trouble.

Yup just save up the cash for the headers.

NO! This is not true.

The '00 manifolds are exactly the same design as the '02 manifolds, only in the '00 year there was a provision for the EGR system on the passenger side manifold that was blocked off for the '01/'02 models. That provision has no effect on flow and there will be ZERO gain going from '00 to '02 manifolds because they are the same design.

It's the '98-'99 that use an entirely different manifold. Some say the '00-'02 design flows better, but I don't think the gain would be noticeable unless you had other more serious mods already.

alright...thanks for the input. I was considering a cam upgrade, just a mild hotcam size. Any more flow I could have gotten would have been good. Cut out is in the works

When I did my cam swap I went to Hooker shorties. You may want to try the new Edelbrock ones though. It should be worth some horses. I really think that the big gains come from eliminating the cats, but shorties would do you good since you are already in there. Just my .02.
