Default Sticky throttle cable... Lube ?

My throttle cable has been sticking a little lately, takes a little pressure to the pedal to get it off idle.

I was going to try to lube the cable a little with some white lithium grease - didn't find anything helpful with search.

I was just going to pull the cable out as far as it will go, wipe on some grease, and let it retract, and work it in/out a few times.

Shouldn't hurt anything, right ? Is there a better way ?

How hard is it to replace the throttle cable on a TCS car ?

what kind of throttle body do you have? I was having the same problems up until yesterday when the shaft going through my bbk tb broke.

I have a Jantzer ported TB.

The problem with the off-idle sticking throttle only recently started though.

Thanks for the reply. I'll take a look at the TB shaft.

mix some pouder graphite with some rubbing alcahol in a spray bottle.
The rubbing alcahol will penetrate into the cable allowing the graphite to flow into it. It will not gum up later and cause more problems like the grease.

Worked for me on a couple of cars.

I had a similar issue with my tb. The set screw just need to be adjusted because the butterfly was shutting too tight.

Like it was said above, use dry lube / graphite. Also I too have seen the butterfly / throttle plate close tightly against the TB bore. You may want to loosten the two screws and recenter the plate.
