Sounds like you broke a hose or the hose came off the resivoir. It shouldn't be a big deal. You may be able to splice the line or just reconnect it. The big pain is going to be getting rid of all the power steering fluid from inside your engine compartment. That stuff smells like crap when it burns.

It's probably your high presure hose. That's exactly what happened to me. No biggy. If you have an Autozone, rent their pully puller. You need to remove the pully from the power steering pump to remove the hose. Then just replace the hose. AC Delco part #36P13056 or GM part#026075068. Hope this helps.

lol i got so scared when mine broke because power steering fluid shot all over my engine and it looked like my engine overheated horribly. Lets just say i was on a main city road turned my car off while in the left hand lane and sat there. So scared till i realized what happened.

My power steering disconected turning into my neighborhood... scared the hell outta me. I pulled into my friends drive way and had to add a little more hose to the end and reconnected it. I haven't had any problems since, and that was about 4 months ago. On a good note, the power steering fluid made my engine bay look pretty nice after I rinsed it off with water.
