Default ticking sound on acceleration after LT's installed?

Anyone gets this subtle ticking from under the hood after your header install? It's there when the engine is cold, and tends to dissaper when warmed up more sometimes. Just wondering.....it's not the pipe banging....that's and all too familiar sound

I have it, everyone with LT's has it. I don't think it can go away, you'll get use to it.

Maybe an exhuast leak of some sort. Listen under the hood when the car is on and put your hands around the headers and see if you can feel any exhuast coming out...

I think its an exhaust leak too. Metal tends to expand when it heats up so thats why it sounds like it disapears when the engine gets warmer.

it could be an exhaust leak. The check valves on the AIR hoses make a ticking noise also if you don't use a restrictor plate on the flange.

I had a tick after I installed my headers. It turned out one had a very slight leak. Had the gasket replaced and now I have absolutly no tick. I don't know why people say its just the headers. Just because you have LT's does not mean you have to be anoyed by ticking. See if you can locate exactly where the tick is comming from. On mine it was pretty easy to tell once I had my head in the engine bay. If it sounds like its under the car, check all your clamps and make sure they arent the problem. You should be able to fix it and if not take it to a good shop. It cost me $100 to have a shop do it because I didn't want to take the header off again. It was definetly worth it. Good luck.

When I got SLP longtubes with their cats and y-pipe I had absolutely no ticking. I took off the cats for some more ponies, and let the ticking begin

i'm going to go with an exhaust leak...mine has one from the !egr and a not so good homeade block off...i don't think the valvetrain is that annoying with a cam...and i agree about the metal expanding/closing up the exhaust leak...let the car run and feel near the exhaust and try to find any air pulsing out of common leak places...around the heads, air or egr, and the collectors...good luck

Leak it may be, but holy fuc$ does she pull and scream with these new headers. If it is a leak, is the new gaskets the fix or any other iseas?
Thanks for all the suggestions

The leak can be anywhere. Just putting new gaskets on might not fix it. Find out where the leak is and attack it, instead of guessing.
