Default Radiator & Cooling Circulation

Hi
On my 1998 Z28 I noticed the plastic panel directly infront of the radiator slops/bowes inwards at the top of the radaitor leaving very little space (1/2" max) for air flow. I believe all Camaros are this way. It would seem to me that cooling could be improved by modifying the plastic panel to allow more room/flow towards the top of the radiator. Anyone understand what I am taking about? Any ideas?

It's meant to crush the air from the chin spoiler up into
the radiator. Since only the last little bit of the total
air is flowing through the top couple of rows it doesn't
really need to be big. Might see a tiny bit of improvement
if it were bigger but I don't think removing the panel is
the way to go.

The biggest airflow problem with these cars, is the fans
staying off until 216F.

I appreciate the input. I have a 180 thermostat and will work on getting the fans reporgrammed.
