Default I need help with my tach...

The 88 camaro in my sig. has a problem with the factory tach that is in the dash. It reads way over what it should, at an idle it is ok but when you rev it up to what i would guess 3000rpm it reads about 6500. What could cause this? Is it an easy fix, or is it something to just not worry about?

Any help would be appreciated.

The only time I've ever heard of this was a MSD box + stock tach. Multiple sparks causing high reading.

Have you messed with either the cluster or wiring lately.

the car has not been touched. it sits under a car cover in my drive way, i have no idea how this could have started happening, but since the car is not at all driven i thought something could have gone bad. I dunno ........

Happened on my 87 (plus a whole lot of other funky gage readings), turned out to be one of the grounds at the back of the head, make sure they're tight and free of corrosion
