my A/C exploded, need advice
the AIR pipe on the passenger side moved over enough so that it rubbed / burned a hole through the metal A/C line and it is now venting into the atmosphere (yes, as i type this)
what should i do? is there anything i can do?
the part doesn't look terribly hard to replace, just one bolt at either end. is there anything i should know about or worry about while replacing it?
how is moisture going to affect the system? i'm going to get it fixed within a week at the most i hope. i intend to replace the pipe myself and have a professional put freon back into it.

just take the pipe out and/or go to a GM dealership and have them tell you or find what you need. i did the same thing when i did a cam swap, but forgot to tie one up in front of the motor and water pump ate it up. just replace the piece and have it vacumed and recharged.

I had the same freaking thing happen to me a coupl'a years ago. I had the Warranty Gold (may they rest well in Hell) after market warranty and they covered it. Don't remember the parts cost. Like FrankSS said, have the system pumped and charged after you replace the part and you're GTG.

is the hose that goes into the top of the radiator. it has a sensor in it and a valve thing for checking pressure / filling it.
would you happen to still have the paperwork with the part# for this part?

I'm not sure if the part number is on the paperwork or not. (I'm at work and won't be home until late this evening). I do know the part came from GM. You could go to a dealer and show them the part and get them to get it for you-I don't know if this part is available aftermarket, but it's worth a try.
I'll look in the morning and see if I have a part number on the paperwork-not likely since it was done by my mechanic-but I'll check anyway.

It is just a strait piece of alum. tube right. Sounds like the liquid line, they do break once & a while. Call the part dept up at you local dealer & tell them you need to order a liquid line. It goes from the outlet of the condenser to the inlet of the evaporator core.

OK, the part # on my invoice was 10282758, cost was 47.19 on 6/4/2001. It is listed as "A/C Liquid Line". Hope this helps.
Gerald
Edit: this is the GM part number.

i almost had this happen...thankfully the ac tube is pretty soft and i just moved it so it would clear but there was a nice indent in it from the air tube rubbing it. I might even have it in my box o parts if you just want a cheap replacement, pm me if your interested.
