Default Car feels slower after cutout???

Not sure why. Maybe it's just me. I haven't really been able to open her up since it's been raining bad here since yesterday.

Added a catback yesterday. 3'' stainless steel pipe and a Georloch's muffler. 3'' cutout is welded on right after the I-pipe meets the end of the Ypipe. We did however have to hack up one thing. The catback is used and the guy must've cut off a piece since there was about 4'' missing So I had to use a small piece off the stock Ipipe.

Anyway, the car "feels" slower. Maybe it's a mental thing since the car sounds louder it should feel faster lol. I don't know. Like I said I haven't really been able to go WOT or really beat on the car because it's been wet.

Am I going nuts?

yes that is normal. It happens to everyone. The sound is playing a role but what is happening is you are losing some lowend tourqe but the fact is after 3000rpm it will flow much much better and pull a lot harder on top end!

I picked up 11 hp and 8 tq at the wheels with a cutout. At the time, my only mods were a ported TB and lid.

yes i gained 11/13 on the dyno AFTER 3000 rpms. it's what you don't see on the dyno that matters. here's my track testing. stock vs open cutout vs bassani tru-dual. your butt dyno is registering correctly.

distance ---stock ----- cutout --- Bassani
60ft ------ 1.987 ------ 2.074 ----- 1.969
1/8 ------- 7.902 ------ 7.912 ----- 7.739
mph ------ 93.20 ------ 93.97 ----- 98.60
1/4 ------ 12.102 ----- 12.080 ---- 11.814
mph ----- 117.12 ----- 118.06 ---- 121.35

its normal to lose that low end pull when u open up exhaust. but it will breathe a lot better up top and therefore pull harder at higher rpms.

the cops gave you ****? Btown cops? man they are the best cops! its when i leave bensalem, i used to get tint warnings and the btown cops said, i dont care if you have tint, just dont give me a reason to pull you over. I had my cutout, never had problems, its not that loud, unless your reving it to 6k next to a cop car.

I saw a solid 1 mph and .10 gain in the quarter mile with a open cutout on my car over an aftermarket catback when it was nearly stock.. I also saw a solid 10 rwhp on the dyno.

IMHO, 'butt' dyno means nothing.

in an m6 its easy to feel the gain, maybe not so much in a a4. Yeah feasterville, usually the cops in not so great districts are hard asses, did you drive by a cop car and he pulled you over? I wouldnt worry about, theres tons of loud cars driving around, just dont get on it near any copper and you should be fine.
