Default UPDATE:Getting Exhaust tomorrow<quick question>?

The hooker CB I had before had a rusted Muffler and shitty tips...So i went to this shop a couple hours ago and i gave them the hooker and they gave me a new Magnaflow catback for 189 bucks..I love it..Sounds so bad with headers and stuff. It is quiet at idle, no biggy time for a cam LOL, and at WOT...Beast. It's a little raspy, but after 400 miles or so it should brake in...

Magnaflow is awsome

Straight Pipes will be extrememely loud. Stock catback isn't a 3" either. Get the muffler, before you start complainging about rasp

performance diff is miniscual.

I know the stock piping isn't 3 inch, but im so stumpd..Some part of me is so eager to hear what straight pipes has to offer regardless of rasp and drone. I have helped other choose exhaust yet i can't help myself.

Are u positive that it wont lose 2-5HP w/ straight pipes?Anybody else??

I have heard of people gaining horsepower with a magnaflow exhaust over straight pipes alone.

SLP Loudmouth is basically Straight Pipes, the LM Resonator is just a 4"(?) piece of pipe on a 3" intermediate pipe. Magnaflow mufflers are straight through mufflers, so there is no restriction, it would really just be the bends of the pipes that make the difference.

Any low end torque loss is not significant at all. Some of those guys who say they can feel that they lost it, are full of ****. In the most extreme cases loike headers, especially the 1 7/8"s on the stock cubes may be noticeable. Really Low end torque can be given back by cramming more air into the engine it seems. Besides, when your racing where are you in the power band for the most part of the race?

I think you should wait to buy a catback and put it on yourself. Start the car up when the catback is off and you will be able to see how loud it is.

Well this is what im doing...Instead of spending $450 on a catback im going to get straight piping 1st....Then im going to save up for an STS,Borla XR-1, or a Bullet muffler later on.

$450 for what catback?

Your signature says hooker catback, why not keep that?

i dont think ull make it a mile down the road without getting pulled over with straight pipes, not to mention ur plans for a 224, that will be hurting NASCARs ears. but go with what u want

so did i. that crap was LOUD. sounded nice @ startup tho

keep the hooker. flows great and sounds good from the clips i've heard. don't go wasting money on something that may compromise what you already have.

you could go with a straight pipe but trust me, with the cam, you will find youself seeking another alternative....

my car witht he loudmouth is, though obvious, loud. REALLY LOUD!! ever seen a cigarette boat with dual outboards idle.like that...im not kidding!!!

personally, im considering swapping the exhaust and my favorite is the hooker, but its not stainless and it will rust. So im thinking about dropping in a custom setup, with my exsisting pipes. MAybe a chambered uffler in each side pipe or something similar...

im not sure wat your question might be but i wouldnt go the cheaper route if you want something that you can just install it and forget about it..

good luck

If you PM me I can tell you where to get the MagnaFlow for $346 with free shipping. Takes about 1 1/2 hour to install at the most.
