Default Is this a stock lid? (Pic inside)

I am just wondering if this is a stock airlid for a 98 SS Camaro. If not which is it? I know the picture isn't very good quality but it should show enough...

Thanks,
Chris

Is there a mod to eliminate the plastic "thing" behind the air lid? I was looking at the motor today and have no clue as to what it is. Is there a tube that can replace that? Thanks

It's not stock. But, it's definately not a Whisper Lid. My Whisper lid does not look like that.

Are you talking about the air silencer behind the stock lid? If you are, just buy an aftermarket lid and do away with the stock crap.

I guess the silencer what it is called. Can you put a rubber hose in place of the silencer without buying a new lid? Thanks luv2spd.

People have tried that with some result, but overall the aftermarket lids are smoother, bigger and so much more free flowing than the stock. Just get a new lid, can find ones used for like $50.

Are you talking about the air silencers that are behind the air lid (on both sides)? It's best just to buy an aftermarket lid. You don't show one in your sig, so I'm assuming you have the stocker.

Edit: Doggonit, looks like you guys already beat me to answering this...

All lids are about the same but it seems that SLP and I believe MTI have the best fitting lids. The differences between the major brands is very small: ie 1 or so HP and hundreths of a second on 1/4 mile. Get whatever one you like the look of

The lid appears to be a Direct-flo lid. It's a good lid. I have had mine for 4 years with no problems of breakage or fit.
