Default Any else remove rear heat shields??

After installing the TSP true dual's and hearing my heat shields that are for the pipe that goes over the rear for the cat back systems vibrate. I crawled under my car after work today and removed both sections of heat shielding, 1 was covering the gas tank and the other the floor above the rear. So my ? is has anyone else done this and do you think there will be any problems? I do not think there will since the pipes dump before the rear. Plus it's a few pounds off the car BTW these dam shields rattled with my catback as well

I did the same with my TSPs. They don't serve any purpose now that there is no exhaust system back there.

Yep, no problems. Mine has been that way for awhile. Keep them just incase you go back to a catback though.

I had a bigger problem getting the mufflers tucked up well enough and not touching the fuel lines. Rattles haven't been an issue with the TSP kit though.

I removed ALL heat shielding except for the driver side that was shielding the fuel line. Believe it or not it added up to 5 lbs with the bolts.

Yep, mine rattled, so I took them off. No problems since, and I anticipate none. Only rattle I have now is the damn plastic piece for the shift indicator. I'm gonna fix that with some felt on the back side of the plastic though.

Did you flip your fuel lines? I did and I have TONS of clearance.

Yeah, you can flip those fuel and brake line brackets upside down to gain alot more room. I also had to cover mine with some DEI heat sheilds. I had lost my brakes twice do to the fluid boiling in the line.

How do you flip the lines? That sounds like the answer to my problems.

There are two little black clips in the driveshaft tunnel that hold the fuel lines in. Take the 10mm screws out and physically "flip" the bracket so that the fuel lines are about four inches higher, then screw the bracket back in. It helps to have a friend handy, 'cause the lines are gonna want to return to their normal position. I had my coworker start the screw while I held the lines up. You'll see what I mean when you get under there.

Hope this helps!

I removed mine and put an expensive clamp-on flexible wrap on the Corsa over the axle pipe after I pulled my corsa off to install tru duals. I found this, [eek]

ive got the similar problem, ive got the SLP LM and it just barely touches the heat sheilds, so when i hit bumps, the LM hits the heat sheild and clanks, makes my car sound broken when i pull into the driveway with people standing around, would it be bad to remove them or should i bend them a little bit so they are not touching anymore

i wouldn't really be removing heat shields unless nothing is near them (you have duals and remove the one by your gas tank) they are there for a reason...as you can tell by Barnz's pics

I don't suggest removing that heat shield with a cat-back still on there. If it's really bothering you I'd just get a strip of dynomat and stick it on the underside of the heat shield, that will kill any rattles coming from the shield. They make dynomat for under your hood that can withstand a lot of heat so you don't have to worry about melting it either.

isnt dynomat expensive, but if it will get rid of that dam rattleing its worth a try
