Default I hate my car.. ORY realated

I just tried the rubber bump stop fix. To kill the metal against metal sound the hooker ORY makes when it constantly beats on the bottom of the car.

It worked!....... Now the car feels like I have poly mounts everywhere. The entire interior rattles and shakes. I am about to take it to a damn shop and have the ORY smashed in the spot it is constantly touching the rubber stop i put in. I hate this damn thing. If it isnt one thing its another. Hell I'm not even heavily modded and its already giving me hell. Time to go to the classified. I am starting to think I got the f-body urge out of my system. Time for a damn vette.

I hear you. I had the same issue with the Hooker ORP. I sold the bitch and had a custom Y-Pipe built. I am using a QTP Y-Pipe and it fits like a glove.

Yeah , at least I know why mine has the vibration.. the ORY is sitting against the rubber stop which is adhered to the chassis.

No way to trim the rubber so it isn't making constant contact with both the car and exhaust??

I just used a piece of rubber fuel line above the exhaust where mine was hitting (FLP headers). No problems since, been close to two years now.

Whoops!! Sorry about that!

Brandon- Damn, that exhaust fits alot closer than mine..i have about 1 1/2" between the pipe and the bottom of the car. With the rubber hose up there, I still have about 1/2" or so that it has to move before it hits.....that sucks.

Yeah not sure whats up... i'll run out and take a picture. Maybe its b/c we opted to weld on flanges instead of the slip fit on both sides for a better seal. I think it may have pushed the PRY too far back. I'll have a picture in roughly 5 minutes.

Picture! It's circled. Taking this pic reminds me I need to clean the underbody tomorrow evening. Yuck. I guess I could trim the rubber a hair but I dont think it would help. The rubber piece is only 1/2 or MAYBE 3/4" thick. ITs actually an exhaust hanger rubber piece.

Well, now that I see the picture, my y-pipe isn't even remotely close to the body right there. Mine was hitting the frame that is to the left in that picture (the part of the frame that runs perpendicular to the side of the car). The way it looks, if the y-pipe was shifted forward slightly, you would have the clearance you need. You may be right about the flanges pushing it back some.

Its way to close, Mine sits I know at least an inch away from the floorboard. Is there any way to have it redone or adjust it? Just sell that ORY & go have you a custom one made. I think I paid $60 to have mine made & installed.

Are you sure that the indentations in the pipe are lined up with the udercarriage right? Mine were not when I had the Hooker ORY and it banged all the time. I took a pair of channel locks and turned the pipe to gain clearance. Dont sell your car because of something minor like this. If it still will not go away then look into getting true duals. JMO

I put more "clearance dents" in the y and welded a piece of metal with a valvespring and a rubber bumpstop at the end to the y-pipe. No vibration in the car at all.
