Default differences in 1998 and 2002 headers

Is it just the EGR Provisions, or is there a fitment issue? I have a 98 car with an 01 motor... what should I get?

Also, does anyone know if the Pacesetter Longtubes and catted Y have slots for the rear 02 sensors?

Thanks for everyones help.

I think it's just EGR stuff.

It's just the EGR and AIR attachments. '98 and '99 had these. '00 models only had the EGR I believe. '01 and '02 didn't have any. You can use headers for a '02 car on a '98 car if you delete the EGR and AIR. That's what I am doing when I put my Pacesetter Race LT's on.

the 01-02 exhaust manifolds where constructed of cast iron with better flow characteristics than the 98-00 stainless manifolds.

cerebrex, do you mean stock exhaust manifolds, or aftermarket headers? Good point ddelallata.

I want to put some aftermarket headers on my 01 ls1 in my 98 TA. Just wanted to make sure if I got the 98s, they would fit.... My stock manifolds do, so I should have guessed that, but I wanted to make sure. Thanks guys.

I would stick with '01 and up style headers. If you get the '98 style, you're going to have provisions for the EGR and AIR which you don't have, plus you have the LS6 style intake and I don't know if that will accept EGR if you decided to add it. Or just buy/make block-off plates the emissions provisions. What type of heades are you looking at getting?

98/99 had EGR hookups only, 2000 had EGR & AIR, and 01/02 had AIR only

I have the LS1 intake on the 01... switched it out as part of the deal. I'm looking at getting the Flowtech headers w/ Flowtech catted Y-pipe.

try a search on FlowTechs. Some fellow board members have not been too pleased with their construction and welds. PaceSetters are pretty good IMO.

Get whatever year headers you want. If they have the EGR tube and you don't have EGR just block off the tube. If they have the egr tube and you have egr remove your egr and block off the tube. Or get race style and remove your air and egr. Little tuning and nobody will know.

I have a '99 and I have both AIR and EGR hookups. Same on my buddies '99 Z28. I believe it is the '00 that only had EGR as they were the oddball year. And I didn't think the '01 and up car had any of this. Anybody with an '01 or later have input?

I have a 00 and I had both AIR and EGR, and I thought that 01-02 had the LS6 which deletes the EGR and they still had AIR for the cats???

I installed 02 hooker headers on my 98, and all I had to do was ben the AIR tubes. It all fit up great. I have since removed the AIR/EGR. The AIR got very annoting after I installed the ory.

01 and 02 have AIR only but the hoses and fittings are placed differently than 98/99.
