Default Electric water pump myth?!?!?

Is this true from what my friends with LT1's are telling me, that an Electric water pump for my LS1 frees up almost 40 horses??? If so, which type should I buy and from who???

You will only see 5 to 8 rwhp on the HIGH side switching to an electric water pump.

The only good thing I see about the EWP is that it frees up a lot of horses under the curve. I've read that it's only worth it once you start doing big mods, i.e. Heads/Cam
