Default How Do You TroubleShoot Starter and Solenoid?

My car wont start but I get a click when I turn the key. I can pushstart the car no problem.

I checked the battery and grounding and theyre both good. I am thinking maybe its the solenoid. How do I check if its the solenoid and not the starter?

Are you sure the battery is ok? Used to be you could cross the terminals on the starter with a screw driver to check it but that was on my 72 chevelle w/350. I would just take it out and take it to a shop and have it checked. Its 2 bolts and like 3 wires w/nuts.. takes 5 minutes to remove and install.

Yeah, the battery is supposed to be ok. I took it to AutoZone and they checked it.

Sounds simple enough. I will just take it off and check it.

You actually can jump the terminals on these starters, although I wouldn't do it with a screwdriver. I've done it with a remote starter switch.
