Default Descreened MAF

I have read it is not a good idea to run a descreened MAF on the street.......why?

Mine is removed and actually the car feels like it runs better.........

Thoughts?

I didn't notice any difference after I descreened mine, so when someone posted a set of screened MAF ends for $10 I bought them and put the screen back on.

I like mine off. Ported too, but depends on what year you have.

What I heard was that the stocker should be good for a little over 600HP.

If you search you will see quite a few threads about this topic. But basically you don't need the screen in, but you might need some slight tuning if you take it out (seems to be on a car per car basis). I think with more mods, the removal of the screen has more potential for power (still not much IMO). For my car I removed the screen and it didn't change how it ran. And the stock MAF should be good to ~500 hp.

I have done extensive testing. If you can tune for them, you don't need the screen. I thought they were causing some irregular readings, but I was wrong.

The day I got my car home, I pulled the filter to recharge it and was going to pop out the MAF screen until I found 2 small pieces of dirt lodged on the screen. If it weren't for that, the screen would have been off long ago.
