Question Open headers to Flowmaster?

Maybe y'all can help me out with this. I was running a Flo-Pro muffler that came with the car when I bought it 6 months ago. I wanted more aggressive sound so I bought a SLP LM. I then wanted more power so I went with LTs. Now the LM is way to raspy and driving me crazy with vibrations here and there. So now I remove the LM to get rid of the heat shield vibrations. Holy crap is running straight pipes loud! So after a good solid month of running open headers and scaring anyone that pulls up next to me, I trade a fellow LS1tech member for his flowmaster. I know, I know... Flowmaster sucks and this and that. But I think I really like it. Now here is the question. Is it possible that I gained more power by putting on the Flowmaster rather than running straight pipes? I can tell you that I notice a big difference in power. and a huge difference in the 5th and 6th gear pick up. What do y'all think. I remember reading on here that having stock internals and putting on LTs without any restriction will actually drop your horsepower. Something about our cars need to have a little restriction in the exhaust flow. Anybody heard that before? Okay I'm done. Sorry so long.
