the oil is to trap particals and keep crap out of your motor....

they all use oil...... holley, grant, etc...

just get the k&n.

the only problem that i have heard about with any of the after market filters is once people clean them they tend to over oil them which then screws with your MAF. i have been running a K&N since i bought my car in 01 and haven't had any problems. just watch with the over oiling.

Also want to know what filter! Because I tried a K&N and Holley powershot and both don't fit the lower air box. One side fits then the other side falls in. Can't get both sides to overlap. The factory Fram fits fine. Any suggestions? Would the Fram air hog fit like the factory paper filter Fram?

They all fit, get whichever is cheaper-I was afraid of overoiling the K&N-i probably did, but it made no difference because it dries out easily theres nothing to wory about with these filters i feel.

you don't need a specific filter for the lid, just the one thats made for your car. a bunch of the sponsors on the right will have them under the induction sections

i have the SLP lid with the K&N and it fits like crap the filter was in the stock airbox when i bought the car. when i changed to the SLP i found bugs ,grass and dirt inside the box from the filter not fitting properly. even had a few bugs stuck in the MAScreen Are there any better fitting filters out there? i'll give up 1 or 2 hp for a better fit

my slp lid an k&n fit perfect no problems ...... but i did hear someone with this problem say they used the holley power shot and it fit better for them soo idunno..... if all u did was change to a slp lid i dont see how that would make the filter fit differently .... its still in the same airbox just with a different lid on it

Give the Fram a try I've changed my filter 11 times, and never have had a fitment issue
If you don't like Fram try the AC Delco

I have a K&N with my SLP lid and no problems here!! Like stated before, people just over oil them after cleaning and think its the filter's fault. No, just READ THE INSTRUCTIONS...............

i bought a powershot about a year and a half ago. If i had to do it again, id stick with paper filters. Its kind of a pain in the *** to oil and having to worry about over oiling.

they say you can do it up to 50K before you see a loss in performance-but thats BS I would do it atleast every 10-15K at most 25 but that is the VERY ABSOLUITE MOST thats ridiculously long time.I have no fitment isssues either

Now SLP sells a K&N filter for our cars and there was something i read about putting the lid in with it pressed on the Airlid and lower the lid onto the Airbox-The filters are made for our cars
