why would you want to do that... the QTP Y offers a TRUE merge collector for extra power...

Im buying the QTP LT's and i need a new Y-pipe.... The QTP catted y is too expensive for me... How would i go about's of making my own Catted Y-pipe? Do i have the shop buy me the Y-pipe and i buy (2) catalyic converters, with a flowmaster y collector... then give them the 2 objects and they fabricate me my own custom pipe? How much does the y-pipe cost just for them to get me one?? a y collector is about $50, and same for the catalyic conv. each.

I dont understand how it works... please explain!

The above Flowmaster Merge Collector is the crucial component in the QTP Y-pipe design. JEGS part # 389-Y300400. Combine that with some high flow cats and some mandrel bends, and a decent exhaust shop could build you a decent Y-pipe. Once you put in the bungs for the O2 sensors and factor in all the labor, the QTP catted Y may come out cheaper.

The QTP Y takes some patience to install correctly, but it's hands down the best flowing Y-pipe out there, along with the Mufflex Y of similar design.

Carlos shut your mouth... lol hey man im j/k its rob. Naw man the QTP catted y-, get this over $500, i could get prospect mufflers down in ft. laud to fab me up a ORY for like $250 he said, stainless steel too... but idk if you can mandrel bend stainless steel at 45* bends?

Carlos... im deciding after going back & forth 100 x's, to go with this setup... tell me what you think???
-QTP LT's w/ air fittings.........$800
-Custom ORY Y-pipe..............$250
-Magnaflow catback..............$400
I'll be ordering my headers around june 3-5th, and my y comes next from the shop... gotta set that up to get made.... Catback comes not for awhile... maybe after summer after i've saved up. but thats my plan man

Yes, but that is the only plus it has. I had one, and I thought it was a PITA myself, and if I really wanted a flowmaster collector, I would have an exhaust shop build me one.

Sounds good to me! Make sure Prospect can do mandrel bends. If they can't, Miami Muffler down in South Dade does mandrel bends, and has done quite a few custom Y-pipes for 4th gen F-bods. No use in getting high priced, high flowing Long Tubes if the Y-pipe can't flow worth ****. So, make sure it's 3" all the way, and mandrel bent. Take them the Flowmaster Merge collector posted above. Also, make sure to get (2) 3" high flow cats.
The setup looks good to me. The magnaflow catback flows very well and is a quality piece. Are you gonna have Prospect mate it to the CME?
Good luck!

I had one too. It was such a pain in the *** when it only lost 2rwhp to dual open cutouts. What a pain!

It is a jigsaw puzzle of the box. It does need lots of tinkering to get it into place correctly, but it does reward you with awesome performance.
