My ASP Pulley seperated! :(
Has anyone else heard of this happening?
It has been on my car for 3 years and it threw a belt today. So I went to put new belts on and noticed that the AC pulley and crank pulley didn't line up properly. the outer section of the ASP has slid back towards teh engine about 1/4", and almost touching the oil pan.

My ASP pulley just failed tonight. I have the newer model with the front plate (SFI certified) that prevents it from coming seperated so I didn't throw any belts.
I haven't driven the car in a while and this is the first time this season I kicked on the AC. All of a sudden my alternator output went WAY down and my lights dimmed. I brought it back home right away and with some investigating I figured out that the extra drag of the A/C compressor caused the outer part of the pulley to slip. I double checked the balancer bolt and it's plenty tight. The final proof was I could see shaved metal through the three holes in the front of the pulley. If I'm not mistaken thost three holes are supposed to be over threaded holes in the inner section.
The pulley isn't more than two years old and I have maybe 5,000 miles on it.
I'll be contacting ASP in the morning.

Mine separated a few months back. I had this sporatic knock that I couldn't figure out. A friend was helping me out and saw the pulley wobbling. Bought my pulley in late 1999 or early 2000. Since I had it around 5 years I didn't think ASP was responsible even though clearly there is a problem.
I have heard that the newer design is much better.

I have one that I bought maybe 6 months ago with only 600 or so miles on it now. the ring on the very face slung off at 6,300 rpm the other week. Scared the F#CK out of me. I thought I hurt my engine for a second. Luckily I didn't see any damage under the hood. 2 of the 3 spot welds that are ground down before they painted had failed and the ring was hanging on. I planned on calling Texas Speed to see what was possible, but never did. It's off now and that's that.

They have a one year warranty and excellent customer service. I would email them at the very least and see if they can do anything for you. I sent them an email today and had a response within minutes. I'm going to ship them my pulley so they can take a look at it (out of warranty but they're willing to help).
Mine is the newer design.

I wouldn't worry about it. There are a LOT of ASP pulleys in use and only a handful have failed. I don't know any product out there that doesn't have a few failures.

I'd check with ASP, but more than likely you'll need to get a new pulley.
