Default New MSD Coil for LS1 LS6

Just wondering if anyone has any feedback or info on the new coil? Is a bit pricey, as well.

They do look nice....... but $600 for coil packs!!!!! And for what gain? There are LOTS of VERY FAST cars that don't see a need for upgraded coil packs. Our stock coil on plug setup works great. I think I'd rather buy 15 turbonators.

I would only get them if something happened and you fried your factory parts. Brand new stock coils arent much cheaper if not the same price.

You would have to fry all 8 of them though. Otherwise it would be cheaper to replace the fried one with a stocker. You couldn't just replace one of them with an MSD. You could replace every other one of them with an MSD, and it would only cost you $300. jk

NEW truck coils are about $25 each, and seem strong enough to make 1k+ RWHP. I'll stick with the OEM parts

So are you saying the new truck coils are a bit better than the current oem,s?

I was just looking at these for a bit of added insurance now with the forced induction. As well as some good feedback.

Correct me if I am wrong dont these have a multi spark vs the oem with a one shot spark. They are even wired for a controler to take care of mulit-spark application???

They seem like you might get a slight power gain. Mostly better gas mileage though because of more fuel being burned with the multi-spark. Like Redneck said it would be a waste of $$ unless at least 7 were out. I think if 7 were out on my car, I would spend the extra $75 for the upgrade. Not sure if it has been longterm tested though since it is new. Don't want to buy something that is going to break in a year.

The single coil OEM's are pretty good IMO, I would buy the after market plug wires before I would buy coil pack's, I would'nt waist time or money on after market coil pack's IMO.

Definitely plug wires first. I wouldn't buy new packs either unless at least 7 of them went out. I kinda like the look of the red too. Too bad my engine is gonna be blue.
