Default Cylinder head cross-over tube

Do our motors really need this? As long as we bleed the cooling system what purpose does it serve?

You need it, unless you want to bleed the heads manually...they're at the highest point of the engine, so air will accumulate there and bleeding at the rad cap won't get it.
