TD sounds like crap
I got the local shop to run 2 1/2 from the cats all the way back and put two bullets on. It sounds like a redneck truck. It also feels slower than it did with a flowmaster 80 series I had on it before and the stock pipes. Can not having an X or H be causing the sound problem? Should I chop of the bullets and get some real mufflers?

You absolutely need some kind of balance pipe...H or X. The truck sound is most likely because you don't have a balance pipe.
Additionally, the exhaust shop probably crush bent the pipe, which isn't the best for performance.
I would add an H pipe because it will be the easiest to do and it will sound good. An x-pipe tends to help with power a little bit and sounds pretty good too...but you really need to build the exhaust around the x-pipe on the f-bodies because it only fits in one spot.

Yes, you NEED the X or H pipe for good sound. Getting a crossover pipe to connect the two sides shouldn't be too hard. Assuming you are on stock exhaust right now...keep in mind for when you get headers that TSP's rumbler X system is a very affordable exhaust. I saw this thread title and just had to see WTF was going on. I'm glad this is what it was.
