Default Oil Soaked knock sensor??

I looked at my rear knock sensor and it has oil on it, there was oil in the hole where the knock sensor sits too. Where is the oil coming from?? Should I replace the oil soaked knock sensor eventhough It wasn't throwing a code?

Can a Knock Sensor be faulty without throwing a code? I just don't want any false knock.
Any ideas would be helpful
thnks

Strange.. only other guess I would have is a valvecover leak or cracked/leaking valley cover.

IMO, if the sensor isn't throwing a code, wipe it off and keep using it.

If yours is like mine (and I think it should be) there's a hard rubber seal that isn't in place properly, which is why you have oil in there. I pulled the valley cover off, squeezed the seal a few times around the outside GENTLY with channel locks to sort of soften it up, then whacked it back into place with a rubber mallet.

mine did that before as well. COVERED in oil. Cleaned it up and never had a problem.
