i just removed AIR, EGR, and the Y pipe and cats first. then i took off the coil packs to give me more room. then i jsut cursed a lot and busted up my knuckles till i got all the bolts out. i didn't read anything, i just went in and did it. u may want to remove the coolant temp sensor on the driver head just infront of the manifold also. i didn't and didn't break it, but u might want to

if you can pass your emissions test with LT's (even with cats), removing air and egr shouldnt hold you back at all. If you have a sniffer test you will probably fail even w/ cats, if you have an OBDII test you can pass no matter what you have (as long as you delete the codes) and if you have a visual test, they're probably not going to look for or even know what air or egr is...

also... i remeber the instructions coming with my headers saying to remove a bunch of stuff like the coil packs and such... waste of time for me. Getting the stockers out was no problem, maybe because I have long skinny arms... good luck

soak the **** of all the bolts the night before u try with WD40 or something. i actually broke(well my friend did, but its not an issue) 4 of the 6 bolts on the manifolds where they attach to the y and cats. they are never going back on so f it. getting the car high enough and safely is the biggest issue with headers.

Get that rear passanger side manifold/header bolt from under the car. It's a lot easier.

unless you have small arms.hands like my room who got out all my tite spots...well, the back 2 and a couple in teh middle. no offense, but dude, i live in Cali, strictest emissions ever, and you should know smog is very hard to pass w/LT's even w/cats and ory y-pipe or x. i was originally gonna keep my egr and air and got headers w.the fittings...now i'm gonna block em off b/c i already wasnt going to run cats. remember, theres always a way around passing emmisions ($$). just my .02

oh... and those 6 bolts that connect the cats to the manifolds... are actually studs. So if you're affraid to break them as you might want to put em back some day, dont worry about it, you can buy replacement studs. i bought a couple the other day

my lower forearms were so scratched up and raw after the header install on my 98. the only problem we had was trying to get the car high enough and be safe, but we got it. everything is pretty much covered... so start unbolting...

we have the sniffer around here and evoryone i know passes withought any problems. evoryone else i have talked to says you should pass it as long as you have cats. the only thing i was worried about was visual but i found atleast 2 shops that told me as long as i had cats and all of the emmision hook ups then they would pass me.
