Default Another 00 EGR question?

i just put on Macs and removerd the EGR off the top of the intake. i didn't have a block off plate for the hole on top of the intake so, we rigged up a quick solution. we cut up the old EGR pipe that went into the intake and capped off the hose with some tape and a metal cap.yesterday i bought a metal disc and bolted it down to block it off tight.it was real tight and i thought i sealed the hole good. when i turned the car on it sounded like someone had there foot on the accelerator. it sounded like it went to WOT and then had a bad idle like a cam. after a few seconds it shut off. (MY QUESTION IS) does anyone know what happened and how i can close off the hole on top of the intake to seal it tight? i don't want any leaks and i wanna help the car idle better because it's alittle rough right after the header install.i would appreciate any help.

Did you use this guide? I have a few friends running around with this plug and no intake leaks...a couple bucks at Autozone.

This may sound a little funny but take a golf ball and set it on the hole but put some rtv around the hole lightly before you set it on.The ball is just a hair bigger then the hole so it cant get sucked in and the rough surface of the ball will ensure the rtv stays put its almost perfect for the job.

DUDE, just go to the parts store and ask for a 1 3/8 rubber freeze plug w/ a nut on top. It looks great and a garunteed seal when your done. It cost like 2.00 bucks. Here is a pic of what you are looking for. No offense to someone elses suggestion but don't go stickin a golf ball on your intake.

At least a freeze plug is an automotive part, some people are real inventive.

And here we have the Tiger Woods ls1 intake that Nike produces

Course then again I am a plumber and we use them when testing a house during new construction. This is how I also know that they are air tight because we pump air and water into the system and cap off with these.

you can buy the plugs from AutoZone, like the one transaman00 posted a pic of. Just get an ls6 intake.
