ticking noise coming from merger collector?
i had my borla XR1 installed today replacing my dynomax bullet in the I pipe and i asked the guy to check for any leaks. i had been hearing a ticking noise so i figured it had to be a exhaust leak. well i got it back and he told me that he tested for exhaust leaks and he couldnt find one. he said the noise was coming from the merge collectors and it was normal. is this true???
FWIW the borlamouth sounds pretty darn mean

Never heard abut that.... i take it the system was a weld as opposed to a bolt on like SLP? Take it to another shop u can trust/get it done for free.... have them write out an explanation of the problem and then take it back to the shop. My guess is shoddy welding or they broke your cat somehow.... All i know is ive never heard anything like that... even on my friends long tubes

First, check your plugs and wires. A lot of things tick when broken, and hearing it in the exhaust doesn't necessarily mean it's exhaust related. The exhaust will magnify the noise because of resonance. I still say check your plugs and make sure they're on the wires all the way (two clicks means they are on correctly). If that isn't the problem, pull the plugs and see if some have cracks or gaps that are way out of whack.

i noticed one of my plug wires were really close if not barely hitting the headers. dont know if that would cause anything. also about a month ago i had a SES light(before headers) and the code come up as drivers air check valve. i reset the PCM and finally stayed off. would a clogged AIR CHECK VALVE cause noise? help me with this

Yeah, the AIR system will cause that same ticking sound you're describing. Why don't you just get rid of it? It's not very difficult, I think installuniversity.com has a writeup on it.

do you have to pass emissions? If not...
Pros:
Cleaner engine bay
No annoying ticking coming from check valves
Removing the whole system saves you about 15 pounds
CHANGING PLUGS AND WIRES BECOMES 100X EASIER!
Cons:
I'll let you know if I come across any
