Default ls1howto.com coolant plug torque spec= DONT USE!!!

I was swapping my ls1 intake for an ls6 and looked up all the torque specs to use my new inch pound torque wrench. On ls1howto.com is says the coolant plugs(i am assuming the plugs used during the swap)should be torqued to 15 ft lbs. This is wrong that converts to 180 inch pounds and the bolt will break off in the head at 150inlbs.The correct spec is 106 in lbs for the plugs and the front collant crossover.luckily i heard the bolt snap and was able to back it out before it completely broke.let me know if a collant plug is something else im not thinking of.

LMAO! I've probably do 6-7 H/C cam installs using Jon's site. Of course I've never been **** enough to use a torque wrench on those bolts.

Like said above, shoot him an email so he can get that fixed.

Hi there, sorry for your mishap, but I'm curious where you found reference to those crossover pipe plugs being 15lb/ft? In the intake install doc itself I dont list any torque spec, and on my torque spec page the "Cylinder Head Coolant Plug - 15 lb/ft" listed is the large plug that goes into the side of the head, in place of a coolant temp sensor. Maybe I should clarify that that plug is NOT the same as the coolant crossover pipe plug....I was just listing stuff just like GM does, right out of the manual.

In the torque list, what you wanted was "Coolant air bleed pipe bolts and studs - 106lb/in".

Glad you got the broken bolt back out!
